Coordinate is an investigation into the relationship between the human and the computer in its role as a social and artistic tool.
This interactive multimedia performance uses motion tracking to instigate the production of sound and image. A camera placed above a stage area of white flooring captures the movement of people in the space. Programming in MaxMSP/ Jitter then uses this information to control both sonic output to a quadraphonic set up and visual projection onto the flooring. The elements of the piece are mutually responsive; movement on the floor changes the sounds produced, these sounds in turn affect the visuals while the visuals also follow the movement, creating a duet between the performer and the computer.
