Vizrt has been tracking Hurricane Sandy as it makes its way onto the North Eastern U.S. mainland. This is a massive storm 800 miles (1287km) across with tropical storm force winds effecting an area 400 miles (643km) across.
Nearly 50 million people will feel the effects of this storm with high winds, rain, flooding, snow, and power outages. The animation generated from Viz Weather shows the track and projected track of the storm as of 13:00 Eastern time (GMT-5).
Viz Weather uses data from the National Weather Service (U.S.) as well as data from weather providers like StormGeo. Viz Weather provides meteorologists tools to visualize the weather data in the most informative ways and to build a playlist of content that can be triggered live on air.
The Vizrt America’s headquarters is in the strike path of the hurricane and we will be closely monitoring the progress of this storm as it makes landfall and continues through the North American mainland.
We wish all in its path remain safe as this storm progresses.
