Information Activism and Online Dispute Resolution: Partners or Strange Bedfellows?
Presented by Bill Warters
In this webinar we will peer into the exciting world of Information Activism and the use of networked communication tools to promote and defend human rights. We'll use the work of the Tactical Technology Collective as our jumping off point. We'll also tap into some conflict theory and consider the different roles that parties commonly play in social conflicts. With help from webinar participants, we'll try to articulate the kind of relationship we'd like to see between ODR (which most often seeks to resolve or cool down conflicts) and Info-activism (which often seeks to energize or heat things up). Students are especially encouraged to join us as we seek to apply and adapt conflict theory to current contexts.
