Sprung from the successful stage play "44 Plays for 44 Presidents," this feature-length series of short films offers a chronological, biographical survey of the lives and presidencies of each of the 44 men who have held the office so far. Since being created at Chicago's Neo-Futurarium as "43 Plays for 43 Presidents," it has grown into the Plays for Presidents festival 2012 - a unique, nationwide theatrical, musical and artistic collaborative project, including almost 50 theatres performing the show this year alone. We have taken it from the stage to the screen, with hundreds of contributing artists involved in this single compilation.
Ten Trees Productions, a Chicago-based production company under the helm of co-author Karen Weinberg, produced this feature by combining the works from the various contributors to tell the story of all of our nation's leaders, starting back with George Washington and leading right up to the present moment. Most of the videos were made by collaborators who never met one-another - they only knew that each staged production was taking on 1 piece of the script to tell the story, and they were encouraged to be creative. This unique compilation is a fascinating take on the possibilities of virtual, collaborative filmmaking. We're willing to bet you'll be entertained, and probably learn a few things, too.
