The Museum of Cultural Arts Houston (MOCAH) is collaborating with Starbucks Coffee Company as a part of their 2012 Global Leadership Conference, held in Houston this October, which will in part focus on Starbucks commitment to helping communities thrive wherever they do business. Working on behalf of Starbucks, Volunteer Houston has convened with MOCAH’s Family of Programs and other local agencies to participate in a massive one-day service project. MOCAH was selected because of our dedication to serving the creative needs of the Houston community by using public art as a tool for community developing and social awareness. With the additional support of MOCAH’s Art Angels Volunteer Program, this alliance will result in a series of creative service projects facilitated at the George R. Brown Convention Center on Oct. 5, 2012, to provide 50 Community Canvas Murals to be donated to 50 canvas murals; Garden signs and mosaic mural markers. These projects will serve as creative philanthropy to several Houston based non-profits.
