SteamRanger Experience "Something Rather Special" Saturday 13th October 2012
Train departs Mount Barker at 10.15 am OUR Journey! After passing through the extended town of Mount Barker, the train begins a steep 1 in 45 grade and our consist of carriages is over the maximum load for engine No. 621 so, for just a few kilometres, it will be assisted in the rear with diesel electric locomotive No. 958. At Philcox Hill, the highest point in the railway, there will be a very brief stop to cut the diesel off. Steam Engine 621 "Duke of Edinburgh" alone will do the honours from there through to Goolwa.
STRATHALBYN: The train will pause here for 17 minutes to allow passengers interested, to alight and walk forward to photograph the engine and train.
