Summary: open with memories of a girl and a red envelope. In the present day, the man who has the envelope wanders the streets alone. He encounters a familiar friend. During their conversation, he recognizes a face across the street: the girl from his memories. He pursues her, she flees. He finally catches up to her; a silent exchange takes place. He draws a gun menacingly; she stands unruffled. He shoots, missing her; she casually departs. Flustered, he resumes pursuit, following her into a dark room. She appears behind him, driving a knife into his back. Dying, he reveals the envelope. In shocked and sentimental recognition, she takes it from his hand. She opens it, surprised to find plastic and wiring– a bomb. An explosion, they are both left dying on the floor. In a final gesture, he takes her hand.
The subtext is that they had a past romance, embodied by some love letter sealed in a red envelope, but some event occurred that turned them into lethal nemeses.
