‘Specimen Tree’ is an interactive public artwork commissioned by Perth & Kinross, containing ‘flowers’ designed and developed by a group of local primary school pupils through a period of research and making workshops.

The tree is ‘dead’ until human interaction makes it come ‘alive’ by blowing or touching, powered by solar panels. The videos illustrate the creative thought process of each pupil’s flower contained in the globes. The sculpture is installed at Glenearn Community Campus, Perth & Kinross.

Materials: Mild Steel, polycarbonate globes, solar panels, copper wire, stainless steel, wire, flexinol, leds, electronic components.
