On our last day in Tibet, we were riding the bus to the airport and our guide Pemba started teaching us the words to a Tibetan love song. He told us it’s meaning was about a man that glances at a girl but she looks away.
Pemba was able to thoughtfully express aspects of his culture that we would have not been able to appreciate otherwise. Despite our Western backgrounds, he connected with us on an emotional level about the people and their spiritual insights.
On our second to last day, he shared bits and pieces of his background life story. I utterly respect him and what he has decided to do with his life and family.
