The Sons of Abraham |ID#shabb-110212-sons-abraham
Today we cover the Sons of Abraham; Isaac and Ishmael. Two sons but only one is the son of promise. These two had a common father but only one was the true son of Abraham, the Father of nations and the son of Sarah, the mother of nations. That son was and is Isaac. We follow Abraham as he believes God for a coming Son which would arrive in Gods own timing. This occurred in the old age of Sarah and Abraham. It was this son Isaac whom the promise flowed through to touch the nations. It was Ishmael to whom God also said he would bless him, give him 12 princes; thus making him a great nation. But the Promise, that son of Promise was Isaac.
We follow Abraham as he literally lays this promise on the altar. Follow Abraham as he continues in his walk with Jehovah and find the testing of this man and of his son Isaac. The much promised one became the son of promise, yet it would be this son who would be laid upon the altar. That which was so dear to Abraham and Sarah would be given to God in this test, yet Jehovah Jireh showed up and provided himself a sacrifice.
Don't miss this exciting story of biblical proportions of our forefather Abraham, whom we are connected to through faith. In this story we also have the enmity of the flesh versus spirit and of Ishmael versus Isaac. It is one where nations today take sides; one with the descendants of Ishmael and the others with the descendants of Isaac. Although Isaac and Ishmael did not fight as we know it; the battle between these two lines are epic, prophetic, and take us to the end of days.
Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son: for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac. Gen 21:10
And the thing was very grievous in Abraham's sight because of his son. Gen 21:11
And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman; in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called. Gen 21:12
