Well, the worlds of the baby and the cat have finally collided and all is well. We wondered when we first brought him home from the hospital if the cat was going to be jealous, or take an angry swipe at him (as she does with animals, and very occasionally, human guests who either pet her the wrong way, or whom she determines to be easily pushed around *Cough* Ben *Cough*). Turns out, the Cat could not be gentler or more patient with Ethan. It's an interesting study in animal behavior. It's like she didn't have to be taught that this small addition to our household gets to be above her in the pecking order. He's now had several opportunities to manhandle her (always under close supervision). You can even see in this 1 minute video where his "petting" equates to an ear yank, face smack, and eye poke - yet the cat never flinches. Of course, she does eventually tire of the nap interruptions and leave.
