This project demonstrates a form of 3D tracking for a scene incorporating jewelry.
First, I filmed the footage. Next, I textured a model of a ring and a key using Photoshop and created shaders in Maya to make it look realistic. Once I finished that, I set up my 3D tracking node set in Nuke and exported a card and camera to bring them into separate Maya scenes containing the ring and the key. I positioned the ring and key using the card as a reference for proper placement. Next, I rendered the ring and key and brought them into Nuke as a .png sequence. I ended up having to key a few frames of the Key to eliminate any jumping of the image.
Once I had everything lined up, I created shadows using the original .png sequence I rendered in Photoshop by making all of the images black. From there, I brought that new sequence into Nuke and added some blur and grain nodes to dull the image to make it look more like a shadow.
