Sermon: The Habit of Doing Good
Text: Titus 3:1-8
Here in chapter 3 he encourages the folks in the church together and his encouragements are uniquely focused on how those inside the church are to treat those in the culture and community around them.
Paul starts out: Be subject to rulers and authorities and in the same breath and therefore, tightly coupled to this; is the qualifiers of being obedient and ready to do whatever is good. Paul actually calls Christians to respect and submit to governing authorities a couple different times in his letters. He bases this direction on the Biblical truth that God sets up leaders and he takes them down. Romans 13: 1 says, ‘There is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God’.
