We spoke with Brian Atkins and Tom Littlepage with the Alabama Office of Water Resource (OWR). A division of the Alabama Department of Economic Community Affairs, OWR’s mission is to plan, coordinate, develop and manage Alabama’s water resources, both ground and surface water, in a manner that is in the best interest of the state. The agency administers various programs relating to Alabama’s water resources including the Alabama Water Use Reporting Program, the Alabama Drought Planning and Response Program, and the Alabama Floodplain Management Program.
