When Kimberly S. was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005, she invited her closest friends for a hair-cutting party rather than wait for chemotherapy to take her hair.
In the pubic service announcement, Kimberly celebrates six years of good health by regathering her friends to cut and donate her hair to the Locks of Love organization.
Locks of Love is a non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children suffering from long-term medical hair loss.
Their mission statement is to return a sense of self, confidence and normalcy to children suffering from hair loss by utilizing donated ponytails to provide the highest quality hair prosthetics to financially disadvantaged children. The children receive hair prostheses free of charge or on a sliding scale, based on financial need.
