TYFTB's development phase has ended, and will continue to be blogged here. in this pre-production phase, a live-action, feature length storyboard has been completed. the next step is to create a script using Barton O. Lewis' speech written for The Floating Scientist and the characters and story developed through dramatic improvisation. i really appreciate those people who have watched the TYFTB development videos. creating story is an interesting enterprise and a deadly one: you usually have to kill a lot of your darlings to wind up with a story. and that is the case with TYFTB: most of what i shot before a few weeks ago is NOT part of this final version of the Storyboard. however, without the killed off darlings, you wouldn't finally have a story.
i have had fun creating this "movie" and it was a great experience for me to play all of the characters - i did that on stage for 17 years, but it was quite a challenge being cast & crew all at the same time. but the first darling that's going to die once the script is written is me as an actor in the next phase of this movie, i am giving up playing The Floating Scientist, which has been a riot. i think this "movie" is good, but the next version, populated by all different folks will really bring the story to life.
TYFTB (thank you from the bottom) is about a woman who believes the Universe is collapsing and is trying to find a black hole to escape into. what if you couldn't stop thinking about the fact that a little bit of gravity on a little bit of a planet in a modest-sized solar system creates the ILLUSION that you are a solid life form and not a collection of molecules connected to all the other molecules in the universe that randomly bob about.
