Mexico City is known for its traffic congestion. Construction of new roads, such as the amazing "segundo piso" network of freeways, can't seem to keep up with the growth in car ownership. However, every Sunday some major parts of the downtown are off limits for cars and are taken over by cyclists, walkers, joggers, and all manner of self-propelled vehicles. It's quite a show. And a shining example for the rest of the world where the car is still the uncontested king of the roads.
