“The invisibles” is a documentary film that takes place in between the states of Norte de Santander and Táchira in the border between Colombia and Venezuela. Thousands of Colombians cross this borderline to escape from an internal conflict only to face another harsh reality, one in which poverty and violence are the inescapable rule. From which hell are these people fleeing that they rather live in other one?
This documentary film tells the story of real people, Colombians who flee their homeland leaving everything behind, to become undocumented individuals. And so they reinvent their lives somewhere else.
It is through the real life stories of men and women that we will not only witness the tragedy of forceful displacement and the anguish of those who experience armed conflict in Colombia, but we will also take part of the daily-life struggles of those who arrive at a foreign country as “illegals” in search of better luck in one of the most violent borderline regions of America.
This project aims at making the stories of forgotten people more visible. These are stories lived and shared by those who live in constant peril, under the shadows of paramilitaries and in between drug cartels gunfire. We will show a reality that exceeds any imagined border invented by the governments on both sides.
The audience of this film will become direct witnesses of those stories that have been archived and discarded as fleeting news for many years.
