Executing this dynamic, photo-real concept for GM might have proved impossible in the real world. So we built ourselves a virtual world to use instead.
We started with a 3D landscape built from scratch, one whose physics and optics worked like a clear day on the Utah Salt Flats. Not only did we recreate the GM cars in 3D, we simulated high-performance camera cars and even a camera helicopter, all with rigging modeled after Hollywood’s top vehicular cameramen. Each vehicle was then driven—or flown—using controllers manned by our VFX team, rolling footage as our virtual drivers cruised the desert.
