Jon Goldman's environmental artwork, "hydra" presented at the BOSTON ARTS FESTIVAL in 1986 in The Lagoon on Charles River. "I am interested in making sculpture that performs kinetically and is activated by environmental forces (the wind)." His influences are rooted in a childhood fascination of "kaiju" (monster's emanating from Atomic Explosion) and his grandmother's (Lucy B. Lemann) involvement in the making of HIROSHIMA/NAGASAKI 1945, the landmark short film using footage taken in the days following the bombing. The film would be screened frequently at Goldman's childhood home, by his parents. Purchased from the CIA by Lucy B. Lemann, led to her being placed on Nixon's enemies list for her outspoken condemnation of nuclear activity.
