In a career that spans some 45 years, bassist, composer and educator Rufus Reid has been on the front lines on the bandstand and in the classroom. His laid-back and low key personality has allowed him to play with some of the legendary icons of the music and taken his knowledge to write one of the best selling bass instruction books and now DVD’s all over the world. “The Evolving Bassist” is one of a few books that explains and educates up-and-coming bassists on the fundamentals of bass. Reid, who began his career while attending Northwestern University near Chicago toured and recorded with the likes of Dexter Gordon, Stan Getz, Eddie ‘Lockjaw’ Davis, Eddie Harris, Nancy Wilson, Bobby Hutcherson, J.J.
