Before this day two of the women of the Ushe Workshop had never held a pencil.
One of three of The Belaku Trust's women's income generation groups, the Ushe workshop specialises in hand embroidery; creating quilts, scarves, children's toys, laptop cases & bags.
For four years the embroidery group has operated under the careful guidance of long-term Belaku Trust volunteer, Wiea. Here they take on the challenge of designing their own children's toy tiger for the very first time.
Shot in Bangalore office, the women of the Ushe workshop traveled to the city to discuss their business' finances & ongoing growth & sustainability. Part of this progress involves the group beginning to develop their own products as their confidence in their craft grows.
