He congratulated Helping Hand for Relief and Development for organizing such an important event regarding Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). He expressed his happiness mentioning that this conference will cover almost all the aspects related to the Rehabilitation and empowerment of PWDs. As far as the welfare of PWDs is concerned till date, the execution is underway and Government is making efforts to implement effectively, but as we know that 70% of the country’s total population lives in rural areas where the situation of PWDs is helpless, the efforts made till date are insufficient for the helpless and deserving people. As per rough estimates, only 4% of the disabled children are enrolled in schools whereas 96% are still out of the schools. For giving these special children a gift of education, not only government should make efforts but private sector should also be engaged in helping these children out. We should not help them by doing charity but strive to bestow them with their rights. I wish HHRD a very best of luck for this national initiative and welcome for any help, if needed. This conference will be a new avenue for the rehabilitation and empowerment of PWDs.
