In this show you will see my interpretation and exploration of death and rebirth through deep concentration on Mayan methods and motifs
I have always been drawn to the intricate details and graceful lines of Mayan art and glyphs. The aesthetics of their written language, or logoglyphs, were as important as the actual message to the Mayan scribes. To that, their literal meanings were enhanced often through embellishment and visual representation.
The more I studied the ancient Mayan culture and inscriptions, the more I was drawn to their understanding that nature and life are repetitive and their visual use of those thoughts as shown in their glyph enhancements. This is even true of their calendar. It is not the end of the world, but a new cycle, a new beginning.
