Digital Death Day was held at The Center for Creative Collaboration in London in October 2012.
DEATH IS A PART OF LIFE AND LIFE HAS BECOME DIGITAL. Digital Death is a field of fast growing interest
and concern among academics, practitioners, entrepreneurs, the media and more recently, the general public.
In contemporary society the body has been extended and (re)mediated through a web of technological systems.
Our increasing digitality means that we will increasingly be forced to come face to screen with all aspects of death online. This workshop aimed to create a platform to reflect on and discuss some of the poignant questions of how technology is reframing our relationship to death; including the central question of
“WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR DATA AFTER YOU DIE?”
