Wired Magazine - “Gothic High-Tech”
FRANKENSTORM : From Across The East River is a visual and emotional account of the night that ended in the horrifying Con Edison explosion, darkening half of Manhattan’s skyline. This short form, experimental documentary hovers along the East River, at the Williamsburg Waterfront in Brooklyn, where hundreds of spectators flocked to absorb the electrifying amusements of an approaching super-storm.
When I set out to film my neighborhood in Williamsburg, Brooklyn the night of the hurricane, I did not anticipate the footage I was about to film. My main objective was to make a short film of whatever I captured that night. But after the explosion, things quickly changed. I now possess a historic piece of footage that shows New York City humbled by the forces of Mother Nature. The same force of nature that many other countries in the world succumb to each year. This film is an emotional response of what it actually felt like to be out in hurricane Sandy, amidst all of her immense energy, while she devastated and consumed parts of ours.
