This is a short experimental new media artifact I made for i310: Media Arts and Technology at Indiana University - Bloomington. After getting a new phone, I wanted to do something meaningful with the voicemails I had been saving on my previous phone. In this short, I've remixed the audio files with my own video and animation, which function as visual responses to the messages themselves and the circumstances that surround them. The result is pretty weird, but I couldn't be more pleased.
I used iMovie to record myself eating sub; I also used the software to assemble the stop-motion shots. The stop-motion shots are actually two sets of photo series cobbled together in Photoshop. I wanted to stylistically reference the late-80s Sesame Street animations I grew up on. The American Gothic-themed animation was built in Photoshop and animated in Flash. Each output was imported into Premiere Elements for the final video. I did a lot of the audio editing there, too, except for a few times when I needed to mix something in GarageBand. This was my first time using Premiere Elements.
This is my first video project. Thanks for watching & keep it creepy.
