With digitalisation consistently placed high on the agenda for Irish businesses, developing the workforce skills to enable this movement in vital.
The skills challenge is significant – the European Commission has highlighted that in Europe less than 50% of adults have the digital skills needed for 90% of roles in the future. However along with challenge, comes new market opportunities for firms and career opportunities for the workforce.
Developing this digital talent is a key area of focus for Skillnet Ireland. Working in partnership with industry and academia, we’re delivering a series of programmes designed to upskill the Irish workforce, provide new career pathways and ensure businesses have access to the talent they need. From cyber security and artificial intelligence to blockchain and digital marketing, the initiatives are helping deliver the talent Ireland needs to remain competitive.
Ireland’s digital skills movement formed part of the recent Digital Europe’s “Digitally Enlightened” series, produced by BBC Storyworks (above). Featuring WomenReBOOT and TechLearn from Technology Ireland Digital Skillnet, it provides a window into the progress being made in bridging the talent gap and creating new opportunities for businesses and individuals.
