Thesis short film by Pablo Belaubre
Filmed in the small town of San Antonio de los Baños and in the studios of the international Film School EICTV of Cuba, in 2012.
International Festival selections and awards such as the Melies d'Argent from the European Fantastic Film Festivals Federation and the Special Jury Award from the erotic film festival la Boca Erótica in Madrid illustrate the public and academic recognition this short film received all over the globe.
Photography, by brazilian DP Rafael Trindade, story co-written by Venezuelan scriptwritter Maria Elena Morán, and a team of cuban and international students largely reconducted from director's pre-thesis short Honor Al Merito were involved to achieve a daring short, showcasing skills and passion for thrilling cinematic experiences.
The numerous difficulties of film-making in Cuba, when involving both on-location filming and set building were seamlessly overcomed during a mere five days of shouting. So on with the difficulties that supposed the casting, naked scenes, and special effects involving Marushka's character, played by Daylis Garcia, a non-professional actress for whom this was a first and quite extreme experience. Leading to a general praise by the school academics, as one of the more ambitious projects to find good term in the school recent history.
The casting also counts with cuban cult-movie director and Goya awarded actor Jorge Molina (Molina's Feroz, Juan de los Muertos...).
Budget for the film was approximatly 10.000$, 2/3 of witch in form of EICTV's material, facilities and personnel, and a ten's part as personnal founding from the students ans their families.
