Part 2 - After reading Van De Walle’s chapter on measurement* and looking at a grade 1 task from Primary Math International** (teachers have the reading/task in front of them), they talk about how linear measurement will help their students understand fractions. They discuss standard and non-standard units, issues with understanding rulers, size of the unit, gaps, or overlapping. Differences between the parts and the lines on a ruler or numberline.
