This is a reproduction of some of the major pieces from my mother's glass workbench. The torch and striker rest in the middle, the glass bars and pieces scattered around. Despite all that, this is missing a great deal of mess!
A basic panned camera explores the details of the scene. Many of the metal and glass textures were built with multiple layers of procedural textures. A little particle system experimentation produced the torch stream.
Update: Improved the fire to look more like a small torch, added a subtle glow to the glass rod as the movie progresses, rendered with final gathering to improve lighting (and reduce the blown out areas during the flyover).
