The Diggable City, a PSU Master of Urban and Regional Planning workshop project prepared for the City of Portland, Oregon, introduced a land inventory containing specific sites of publicly-owned properties where opportunities may exist to expand community gardens and other forms of urban agriculture. In June 2005, the inventory and accompanying report where presented to the Portland City Council and unanimously adopted.
The Diggable City documentary serves to educate a wider audience on current developments surrounding a trend toward localized food production. Through the lens of various urban farm projects and numerous in-depth interviews, The Diggable City Film Project draws the audience into a compelling story that uncovers efforts underway to expand urban agricultural activity in Portland and in other communities throughout surrounding metro area.
