中西合璧大型书法晚会 - GALA PERFORMANCE NIGHT OF CHINESE CALLIGRAPHY ART
--Opera Carolina, the Bechtler Museum of Art, and the Confucius Institute at Pfeiffer are collaborating on a multi-media recital to be presented on January 20, 2013 at the Bechtler Museum. The program will be a combination of traditional Chinese calligraphy, music and poetry, Western art song and opera.
"Practiced for over 5,000 years, Chinese calligraphy communicates the art and history of Chinese culture. Chinese calligraphy is a unique art form which embodies Chinese principles of artistic expression as the abstract image reflects the freedom of soul, like in Western painting and sculpture. Calligraphy is also appreciated as a distinctive art for its beautiful aesthetic qualities." -- By Weihong Yan, Assistant Prof. of Chinese Lang & Culture, School of Humanities, Executive Director, Confucius Institute of Pfeiffer University
