Identity exploration is a process that most human beings go through in the early days of self-recognition, and though most people might make a commitment to an identity from an early age, some stay actively involved in the process of exploring. I, the latter type, constantly find myself in an inside conflict, not about the basic ethics or morality, but about the individual roles and responsibilities one must fulfill as the part of the society, as if there are two different people in me. These two identities or alter-egos, which I named Salome and Maryam inspired by the Biblical characters of Salome, the daughter of Herodias and Mary, the mother of Jesus, represent me interchangeably in different social situations, or at a bigger scale in the life-changing decisions. This song and the video is about the constant debate between those too. And the rest is for you to interpret it the way you like.
