This was a test shoot Jon Shrader and I did recently as the inaugural shoot for my new RED Scarlet-X camera. The beginning shots are of the Red Rocks area west of Vegas. They were all shot in 4K, and really show the best of what this camera is capable of. As the night proceeded, we shot the moon at 1K, 15fps, which enabled my 300mm lens to become a virtual 1200mm lens because of the sensor crop factor. Later, we took several shots of the strip skyline at night, and later shot the Bellagio fountains in 60fps. The graininess from the darker footage is mainly because the 300mm lens was being zoomed in a lot, which was stopping the images down more. Also, when shooting in 60fps, it diminishes any light you have as well. However, for a first shoot, the Scarlet proved itself to be incredibly dynamic and beautiful even though we didn't have the best of lenses or fine-tuned settings that night. All in all, this will be the worst this camera will ever look. That's really encouraging being that the footage is still quite amazing. It will only get better from here! -Michael
