Last Saturday we stayed at work for an extra 30 mins to record this fantastic aria for Soprano and Bassoon from Graupner's Cantata 'Diese Zeit ist ein Spiel der Eitelkeit' 1709. Peter Whelan, bassoon, had been in touch with Jim Stockigt in Australia who has compiled a catalog of music for bassoon and voice. Peter was keen to share some of Jim's work so he asked John if he would mind helping him with this. Brian Clark typeset an edition for Peter from Graupner's manuscript so we could work on it quickly. The young Scottish soprano Rachel Redmond, along with the rest of the Dunedin musicians agreed to spend a few minutes bringing back to life this incredible piece of music. We hope you enjoy it!
