An important facet of arts administrators' work going forward will be to understand artists' and arts administrators' training in higher education and outcomes for their careers and lives. This session will (a) present research to-date to inform and (b) gather participants' input on the questionnaire design of the upcoming 2022 Strategic National Arts Alumni Project (SNAAP) survey. Research to be presented speaks to two new aspects of the SNAAP survey: racial and ethnic inclusivity, and the impact of COVID-19 on arts graduates. Insights from higher education administrators on information and knowledge needs will be shared, and another segment of the session will detail the process and findings from interviewing arts alumni about their experiences during COVID-19 (likely 80-100 interviews by the time of the conference). Building on insights and themes from these interviews, we will then present new questions intended to measure experiences of or lack of inclusivity and the impact of COVID on arts alumni in terms of their career, artistic practice, and life in the upcoming SNAAP survey. We will facilitate discussion and participant feedback on these topics and additional information needs.
