The Women’s Law Center was founded 40 years ago by a small group of passionate women law students and young lawyers who observed rampant, overt and damaging discrimination against women. Over four decades, the Women’s Law Center has evolved from a group of dedicated and energetic volunteers to a professional organization with paid staff members who serve over 11,000 individuals each year. Significant progress has been made and many obstacles to women’s success have been overcome. But full equality has not been achieved. In response to persistent challenges, our work continues through our direct legal services to protect the rights of individuals and strategic initiatives to achieve systemic change.
