The piece "childhood map" is a video-performance work I did as part of my MFA studies last year. Dressed in the traditional Paraguay cloths, I dance to my father's song "Malagueña". It projected on the outline of the map of Israel. The 3 little spinning videos, pictures of my twin brother and I as kids with our dad, are located in Eilat, Tel-Aviv and Jerusalem-the places we lived with my father until the age of 7, while he was on tour with his band "Los tres Brillantes Paraguayos" (he was the lead singer).
I planned to go to Paraguay on the spring break to remake this video, this time better and with him singing live. I wish I had the chance, I wish he saw me doing this, I wish I was half talented as him as an artist. I wish..
Dedicated to the memory of my father, Julio Delgado Rojas, who died on September 22nd, 2012. R.I.P Aba
