Recommends searching in structured databases (e.g. library catalogues, or journal article abstracting and indexing services) in preference to searching unstructured sources (e.g. general internet searches). Demonstrates with ERIC, a North American Education database, how to search the different fields of the database. Some databases use controlled subject headings - find the correct subject heading - and information should be highly relevant to you! The principles will apply across many different databases in a wide range of subject areas.
