This textile, installation and video art piece is part of my MFA studio work for Vermont College of Fine Arts. The reference to the job-type of 'pink slips' is intentional, and continues a theme seen in other performance art/installation pieces such as is documented in 'Document Shredding' (vimeo.com/44407068) and 'Onion Cutting' (vimeo.com/44400347). Other videos in the 'pink slip' art project including documenting the wrapping of buildings with repeated paper pink slips as seen in vimeo.com/47584371 and vimeo.com/46484699. Pink Slips Flying was a temporary installation and wind sculpture, following in the same vein as 'Avenue As River' (vimeo.com/45613108), 'Guilford Fabric Art' (vimeo.com/45126682), 'Fabric Art and Cooking Project' (vimeo.com/43436082), and 'SkyWindEarthFlow 2011' (vimeo.com/35176523). All of these efforts are part of (or lead into) the larger project started by Cai in 2012, Art=WorkStrengthenNourish. This is the second installation video on Pink Slippers, the first released a month ago at vimeo.com/52202213.
