Adam Cohen, son of Leonard Cohen, in duo with French movie star Virginie Ledoyen ("The Beach", "8 Women")...
Isn't this a dream cast for my very first music video directing experience? Indeed.
The idea of encounter of two people at the same place at the same time was translated by shooting the film using a retroprojection technique borrowed from the romantic films of the '50s.
The splitscreen editing allowed to create the ambiguity expressed by Cohen's lyrics (are the they really together? Is this a dream?).
The video was shot in 2 days. One day in Paris to shoot the empty streets, using a car as a dolly. Another day in studio with Adam and Virginie walking on a conveyor belt in front of a massive screen.
