A five minute edited-clip of my most recent production, There's Nothing To Tell (没有什么可说), presented in the round at In the Heart of the Beast Theatre for all ages. We begin with an atmospheric clip of the audience as they gather in the space, exploring, viewing the stage from all sides and becoming apart of the environment. The following clips are a short trip through the story of our main character, Grandpa, as he discovered the illuminating powers of shadow puppetry and subsequently loses that power with the oppression of the Cultural Revolution. The last clip is Grandpa in the present day, from behind the screen, as he continues to wrestle with the narrative of his life and how it ended. We end with a continued clip of the gathering atmosphere were the audience is encouraged to ask questions and explore the puppets and scenery.
