The COVID-19 pandemic has devastated communities and deepened inequalities. City resources have been diverted to COVID-19 response and tax revenue has plummeted, making it challenging for local governments to respond to the health, economic, social injustice and climate crises. Despite these challenges, cities are leading on local action and a significant portion of expected federal relief will be deployed at the subnational level. This session will explore how cities are supporting a sustainable and equitable recovery that creates jobs, reduces GHG emissions and strengthens communities.
