GUEST deals about the endless effort human takes, fleeing from the third to the first world. It speaks about the human cruelty to defend by using violence places and societies and ask the question how the human reacts on threating and when dispair and desire for safety changes into brutality. It is a meditation about our fear for our life and our ownership as well as about the longing for a good life and safe places. The struggle to survive with all its contrariness, fragility and cruelty shows itself in stories from refgess all around the world. But it is not about the others, it speaks about us – about the concern of all human, who are looking for a better life.
GUEST researches the long and dangerous ways which refuguees decide to take, the risks they take with it and the strong desire which is grounded in them. The dancers therefore confront themselves with physical violence, psychological power games and the endless waiting for a for a life at a safer and better place. Nevertheless the questions turn back to us and question our own way of living.
GUEST is a physical performance set in a landscape of clay. It has the goal to reach the audience directly, emotionaly and in intuitive way. Movement is understood as a expression of desire. In the heart of the physical vocabulary stands therefore not a aesthetic principal but human longing. The longing to survive.
