40-45 MINUTES,BILINGUAL OR MONOLINGUAL IF NESSECARY

SYNOPSIS:
“CE MATIN
JE ME REVEILLAIS
ET JE ME TROUVAIS
DANS UNE AUTRE MAISON
DANS UN AUTRE LIT
AVEC UN AUTRE HOMME
I WAS WEARING ANOTHER NIGHTGOWN
LISTENING TO OTHER MUSIC
SPEAKING ANOTHER LANGUAGE
MAKING LOVE IN VERY DIFFERENT WAYS”

THE SLEEPWALKER/LA SOMNAMBULE TELLS THE STORY OF A WOMAN WHO EXPERIENCES A PHENOMENA IN HUMAN LIVE:
SLEEPWALKING OR AS THEY CALL IT MORE EXOTIC IN FRENCH: SOMNAMBULISME.
IT SEEMS THAT IN OUR SLEEP WE ARE SO UNCONSIOUS OF OURSELVES THAT WE PERFORM ACTIONS THAT ARE IMPLYING WE ARE AWAKE BUT WE ARE NOT.
WHO CAN TELL WHO IS THE SLEEPWALKER AND WHO IS NOT, HOW CAN WE KEEP OURSELVES AWAKE?

THE HEROIN OF THIS PLAY TAKES THE AUDIENCE INTO HER NIGHTLY ADVENTURE WHERE SHE MEETS A RABBIT GIRL, A WOLFMAN, A MAGICIAN-POLITICIAN AND ALMOST MARRIES THE PRINCE CHARMING.
IN BETWEEN THE MOON HAS SEVERAL MEETINGS WITH MYTHICAL FIGURES, OUR SLEEPWALKER CROONS SONGS, BURIES HER OBSESSION AND IN THE END THE AUDIENCE HELPS TO WAKE HER UP.

THE SLEEPWALKER/LA SOMNAMBULE IS A CALEIDOSCOPIC PIECE, USING TEXT, MOVEMENT, INTERACTION AND PUPPETRY, WHERE THE AUDIENCE IS INVITED TO TAKE AN INTIMATE LOOK INTO THE SOMNAMBULISTIC UNIVERSE.

THIS PIECE DOES NOT HAVE THE GOAL TO ANSWER QUESTIONS BUT RATHER TO EXPLORE THEM AND PLAY AROUND WITH THE DIFFERENT IMAGES OF SLEEPWALKING:
IMAGES IN ART: ROMANTISM, EXPRESSIONISM ( THE CABINET OF DR. CALIGARI), IMAGES FROM THE WORLD OF ARCHETYPES AND THE USE OF IMAGES AS A METAPHORE.

THE SLEEPWALKER/LA SOMNAMBULE PREMIERED AT FESTIVAL PHENOMENA AT LA CASA DEL POPOLO IN MONTREAL AND WAS A BIG SUCCES.

THE PIECE WAS PRESENTED AS A WORK IN PROGRESS AT LA BARAQUE DURING LES JOURNEES DE LA CULTURE AND GOT A RAVING REVIEW:
