Robert Buday has extensive experience in a broad range of commercial real estate transactions. The primary focus of his practice includes real estate private equity, real estate development, infrastructure investment and real estate restructuring matters. His clients consist of publicly traded and privately held, domestic and foreign real estate operating companies, developers, REITs, pension funds and institutional investors.
In the last 30 years, Stephen Fifield has led his firm to become one of the cities most prolific developers of urban infill high-rise office and residential buildings. He has built over 8 million SF of offices including 10 office buildings in downtown Chicago, including PepsiCo regional HQ at 555 W. Monroe, USG World HQ at 550 W. Adams, CTA’s HQ, 101 N. Wacker, 676 N. Michigan Ave. and the landmark renovation of the Civic Opera building.
Alejandra Grindal is the Senior International Economist for Ned Davis Research Group, a global provider of independent research solutions to the world's leading financial institutions. She is the primary person in charge of the firm's international macro insight product, and is responsible for identifying international economic trends and themes, particularly as they relate to developments in equity, fixed income, and currency markets. In recent years, Alexandra has been particularly focused on global demographics, the European sovereign debt crisis, and Japan's lost decade. She joined Ned Davis research group in 2006.
Before joining the Commerce Department, Matthew T. McGuire worked as a senior executive in the financial services industry for more than eight years. He was most recently at Citadel LLC, a leading global financial institution with over $11 billion in its hedge funds and with offices in the United States, Europe, and Asia. McGuire has also worked as an investment officer at New York State Common Retirement Fund, where he was responsible for investor affairs and corporate governance activities for the $110 billion public pension fund; and he spent several years in the nonprofit arena, directing job training and workforce development programs in the United States and the United Kingdom. Prior to that, he received a PhD from Harvard University, and his dissertation was on the redevelopment of public housing in Chicago.
Laura S. Washington brings more than two decades of experience as a multi-media journalist and nonprofit professional specializing in African American affairs, local and national politics, race, and social justice. From 2003 until 2009 she served as the Ida B. Wells Barnett-University Professor at DePaul University. She is the former Editor and Publisher of the Chicago Reporter, served as Deputy Press Secretary to Mayor Harold Washington and received the BSJ and MSJ degrees from Northwestern University.
Louis G. Conforti is global head of real estate for UBS O'Connor, the alternative investment management division of UBS AG. Louis also served as Senior Portfolio Manager of O'Connor Colony Property Strategies (OCPS), a standalone hedge fund partnership with Colony Capital, a leader in real estate investment management with 11 offices and 250 employees worldwide. Prior to O'Connor, Mr. Conforti was Managing Director and Head of Real Estate Investments at Stark Investments; his predecessor real estate hedge fund, The Greenwood Group, was merged into Stark investments. Previous positions include President and Chief Financial Officer of Prime Group Realty Trust, a publicly traded real estate investment trust, during which he led a corporate restructuring and subsequent privatization; as well as with CIBC World Markets and Alex Brown and Sons within real estate investment banking.
