DIY’er, musician, presenter, filmmaker and activist, Dylan Haskins, shares his relationship to choice. There are choices which demand some mulling time- his decision, for instance, to run as an independent candidate in the 2011 Irish General Election. Then there are choices which demand an immediate, gut response. When faced with a split decision of touring the US on a 36 foot yellow school bus with one of his favourite bands, he jumped on the less ‘sensible’ option and hopped on board, a brash decision which would take him from the Arctic Circle to the The Grand Canyon radically altering the course of his life. Moving forward, keeping going, trying new things out and enjoying the ride have led him to an unexpected career path, underpinned with the belief and song lyrics, ‘sometimes motion is the only thing that keeps us alive’.
