This was a long time coming and I personally was very glad to be part of it. An event which was not centered around huge attendance numbers, tons of mediocre cars, attitudes, or parking lot burnouts which drew attention. This little get together was a place for enthusiasts and photographers alike to relax and enjoy the culture we all came to love in the first place. We have covered many cars shows and park-offs and have mad love for them all. This onc was different however. Different because every single car there showed the essence of “stance”. I did not have to walk a field full of cars to find the roses between the thorns, these were all roses. Have a read below about what the organizers had to say about Initiated.
“The term “Initiated” sparks a fair amount of controversy, with many people asking what the term essentially means and how it applies to the local car scene with it having little or no relation to anything car related. The term “Initiated” has two recognised meanings, one of them being the cause to begin (process of action) with the other meaning being; to admit (someone) into a secret or obscure society or group, typically with a ritual.
With that said, a need existed where both meanings were able to gel together with the aim of describing an automotive event which would be considered as being on par with that of international automotive events.
Initiated 2012 fulfilled the need of combining the two meanings by it being the first event to begin within Cape Town featuring cars that have essentially been initiated into a society where quality and styling executed to perfection is priority. With a good friendly atmosphere, like minded individuals and with conversations centred around everything with four wheels and a motor, Initiated 2012 mimicked an automotive lifestyle that many of us would love to be a part of. Initiated would like to thank the V&A Waterfront for allowing us the use of their rooftop. Also thank you to all the drivers who brought their vehicles out to the meet. Last but not least we would like to thank all the media crews who supported us, namely and in no particular order, Blacktop Media, BoostSA, Cape Stance, Casual Society, HoodrideSA, Photofreak, Raceweb and The Urban Lens.”
