Salsa is a syncretic dance form with origins from the Cuban Son and Afro-Cuban dance. Silhouetted dancers swing to the lively, sensual dance of Salsa in this video whose soundtrack is replaced by the gentle, cerebral Satie-esque piano of Deaf Center. In this video the dancers progressively synch with the introspective neo-classical music. As Barbara Ehrenreich famously suggested in “Dancing in the Streets”, collective joy embodied in dancing has been in decline in developed nations - replaced by staid spectacles and a disciplined workforce.
